I’ve listed my favourite freeware applications for mac.

Image
CocoViewX – Classical windows style imageviewer. (power pc only).
FastPic – Small and fast imageviewer with realtime zooming and rotating. Not universal.
Gimp – Image editor.
Image Tricks – Image editor with meny ”core image”-effects.
ImageWell – Image manipulator with watermark and framefeatures. Included Ftp-uploading.
Inkscape – Pagemaker ripoff that is opensource and is getting better and better.
iPalette – Get HTML-codes from colortones fast and easy with iPick.
MacOSaiX – Create beautiful mosaicimages with this app.
Seashore – Fast GIMP-based image editor that is written in cocoa.
SnapNDrag – Utility that makes it easier to make screenshots.
Google SketchUp – Create models fast and easy with this app from Google.

Editors
Smultron – A multilingual editor that has powerful features and is customizable.
TeXShop – Good LaTeX-editor with built-in viewer.

Media
Flip4Mac WMV – Get Windows media-support in Quicktime applications.
LAME-framework – Export to MP3 files from applications that uses quicktime.
Audacity – Audio editor
djay – A very nice dj-application that integrates with your iTunes library.
Isquint – Video conversion application. Convert many formats to .mov with this application.
MacTheRipper – Copy a DVD-movie to your harddrive. (powerpc only)
MPlayer OSX – A media player that plays many formats.
QTAmateur – A small media player. It can play any format that QuickTime can understand, handle fullscreen video playback, and export files to any format that QuickTime can write.
QuickTime Broadcaster – Record videos from your webcam with this.
RealPlayer – Media player that also install plugins for your web-browser so you can stream real media files directly in your browser.
VLC – A media player that plays many formats.

Messaging
Adium – Multi messenger. Can handle many protocols like ICQ/MSN/Jabber/Yahoo…. It is customizable and has a nice interface.
aMSN – Good MSN-messenger clone with Jabber support and Webcam-feature.
Skype – Internet telephony and video calling.

Office
OpenOffice.org 2.0 – Mac-version of Openoffice, the free Microsoft office-clone. (requires X11)
Neooffice Aqua – Openoffice but written in aqua so you can run it without X11 with nice osX-look.

Web
Camino – Same mozilla engine like Firefox but written 100% for Mac OSX look and feel.
CamiTools.dmg – Extension application for Camino.
Firefox
Google Earth – The classic application from google. Offers maps and satellite images
Opera – Good web browser with menu included features.
SafariBlock114.dmg – Adds adblock feature for Safari.
SafariSpeed – Speed up safari.
Shiira – Cool webbrowser with many new inspiring features. Same rendering engine as Safari (Webkit).
Vienna – Great RSS-reader for mac.

Tools
Mail.appetizer – Get a beautiful notification when you have a new mail.
MenuMeters – Get information about CPU-usage etc.
MouseZoom – Is the mouse pointer to slow? No worries, just install MouseZoom.
Burn – Great simple burning app.
CocoaBooklet – Make PDF-booklets fast and easy.
CoconutBattery – Get control of your battery
coconutWiFi – Great WiFi-application that will help you to find networks.
CoreDuoTemp – Get information of your current clock-speed and cpu-temperature.
Cyberduck – Great FTP-application. You can edit files directly from your server.
PureFTPd-Manager-1.6.3 – A powerful ftp-server with easy administration.
VirtueDesktops – Virtual Desktop application with nice transition effects.
Fugu – SCP file transfering client.
Gdisk – Makes your gMail accont to a disc drive.
HandBrake – Convert a DVD movie directly to mp4-format, fast.
IalertU – Anti theft program that uses information from your harddrive sensor.
IpodDisk – Get access to the music in your iPod with this.
Iterm – Terminal application with tab-features.
IwebSites – Makes it possible to run multiple web-projects in iWeb.
OneButton FTP – Another ftp-client with less features than Cyberduck, but it’s fast and stable.
OnyX – System management application. Change a lot of hidden features in MacOSX and clean up your system.
OSXvnc – VNC server for MacOSX.
PDFLab – Edit PDF files
Phew – Safecopy application (PowerPC only)
QuickErase – Erase your RW-media fast and easy.
Quicksilver – Application launcher with many features and extensions.
SeisMacs – It access your laptop’s Sudden Motion Sensor in order to display real-time, three-axis acceleration graphs.
Senuti – Access your iPod files, copy them to your computer and play them directly with this.
SimplyBurns – Another simple burn application with a copy disk to disk feature.
SuspendNow! – Get your computer to deep sleep directly with this app.
TeX FoG – A manual application for TeX-commands.
WhatSize – Get information of folder sizes, tree view.
X-Charge – Battery monitoring software, graph view.
Xbench – Benchmark application.
Yasu – (Yet Another System Utility) was made to do a specific group of maintenance tasks quickly within a few clicks.
Fink – With fink you’re able to install and compile a lot of UNIX/LINUX-applications. For example: LaTeX, Imagemagick, Xdvi, Xmms, Emacs. Many of these apps will need X11 that you can install from your MacOSX-install disk.
Witch – Do you like the Alt-tab command? Then witch makes it more powerful.

Widgets
AlbumArt – Get CD-cover from Amazon when playing file in iTunes.
Amazon Art – Find album art quick and easy from Amazon.
App Update – Automatically find out if there exists new versions of any of your installed applciations.
coconutBattery – Get battery information
CoreDuoTemp_widget-1 – Information about CPU-temperature
Cyberduck – Just drop a file on it and it will upload it to a predefined path on your ftp-server.
Day in History – What happened on this day?
Deep Sleep – Press to get your computer into deep sleep.
DoBeDo – View, add, edit and delete iCal todo items.
Hitta – Swedish hitta.se-widget.
iCal Events – Displays upcoming events from multiple iCal calendars.
iLifeDock – Launch iLife applications from Dashboard.
iStat nano – Get information about CPU/memory/etc.
iStat pro – Get information about CPU/memory/etc. More detailed than the nano version.
PHPQuickReference – The name says it all..
Swedish Lexin – Swe-eng lexicon.
tvinfo – Get information about swedish TV-programs.
Uploader – FTP uploader. Preset with ftp logon information and drop a file here for upload.
Wikipedia – Great widget for a great web-service.

Det har varit mycket i sommar med högt tempo hela tiden. Jag har Gift mig med Andrea, hjälpt till att sälja häst, farit och flugit och sommarjobbat mycket. Nu måste jag dessutom jobba lite med mina omtentor i Augusti och leta exjobb men har samtidigt bestämt mig för att uppdatera hemsidan och försöka hålla kontinuitet på bloggen.
